Snow Makes Flow: Our Water Starts Here
The snow you ski and ride on at Sunlight sustains life across the West. This seasonal snowpack—today’s playground—is tomorrow’s lifeline for ecosystems, agriculture, wildlife and communities that depend on a reliable water supply.
As it melts, this snow flows into the Colorado River, which provides drinking water, supports agriculture, powers industry, fuels recreation and much more. Forty million people across seven U.S. states, 35 tribal nations and Mexico rely on its water.
Protecting snow and water resources is the work of the nonprofit Middle Colorado Watershed Council in collaboration with our stakeholders. Spanning from Glenwood Canyon to De Beque, the watershed supports riparian corridors, high desert landscapes, upland forests and more. Facing environmental challenges like extended drought, recent wildfire impacts and the effects of warming temperatures on water flow and availability, the watershed needs everyone’s support.
The Middle Colorado Watershed Council focuses on supporting the long-term health of the watershed. We advance water quality monitoring and improvement, encourage efficient water use and conservation, and provide fact-based, unbiased information to guide planning efforts. We also implement on-the-ground restoration projects and secure the resources and partnerships needed to get the work done.
Help us ensure the health of our watershed for generations to come with your tax-deductible donation today.
Thank you!
