Zak Podmore, author of Life After Dead Pool, brings to life the magnificent terrain and complex politics of the Colorado River, its dying reservoirs, and the natural and cultural histories of Glen Canyon that are reemerging as Lake Powell shrinks to record lows. Filmmakers Diego Riley and Will Buckley introduce their new documentary What the River Knows. And Frank Martin, Dave Notor and Ashton Taufer will play live music!

The Glen Canyon Hootenanny is part of the 2025 Fire & Water Speaker Series, a fundraiser of the Middle Colorado Watershed Council. The event is presented by the Hotel Colorado and supported by EcoPoint, Bank of Colorado, GRIT, LRE Water, ANB Bank, Wright Water Engineers, Holy Cross Energy, the Colorado River District, Post Independent and the CSU Extension in Rifle.
